DONATIONS FOR
UNDERSERVED STUDENTS
To support underserved students, Luke Putney of Instrumental Horizons is an ongoing partner with WO Smith, a Nashville-based music school serving over 650 children from low-income families. In the first few years of this partnership, Instrumental Horizons has already donated over $25,000 dollars in cash—plus a myriad of new or gently used/renovated guitars, basses, keyboards, woodwind, brass and percussion instruments. These musical instruments are put to work through the W.O. Smith musical instrument lending library, and several have been awarded as scholarships to outstanding students.
“Music was my ticket out of the ghetto, and my hope is that music can help the youngsters we touch to realize their own ambitions.” — William Oscar Smith, founder, WO Smith Nashville Community Music School
